An authentic turn of the 20th-century Spanish mansion, the Hemingway is in the historic Barrio Amon quarter of San Jose, walking distance to all the museums, fine restaurants, the Simon Bolivar Zoo, souvenir shopping and the infamous nightlife circuit, the best location in San Jose. Though the city has grown around it, it was originally built as a large hacienda for the family of a wealthy coffee plantation owner in the 1920´s. Still retaining its former charm, only fifteen years ago it was completely renovated and remodeled to become an adorable bed and breakfast. The Hemingway Inn has 17 unique rooms, each with cable TV, telephones with free calls within Costa Rica, comfortable beds, and private baths. A complimentary tropical buffet breakfast is provided each morning on the garden patio from 6 to 10 am.
